The Institute of Oriental Studies of Kazan State University was established in 2000. With the support of the Institute of Information Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, it has achieved significant success in the field of training specialists over the seven years of its existence. The Institute is gradually being staffed with young personnel at the expense of its graduates.
Several graduates of philologists with a specialization in Arabic, Turkish, and Chinese languages were held, and in 2007 the first graduation was carried out in the specialty "Oriental Studies, African Studies".
The State Attestation Commission for graduates of the specialty 022800 "Oriental Studies, African Studies" consisted of the following members: A. Z. Egorin-Chairman, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Professor, Chief Researcher of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences; G. G. Zainullin-Doctor of Philology, Professor, Director of the Institute of Oriental Studies of KSU; R. M. The assessment of graduates ' knowledge was carried out on the basis of the "Regulations on state certification of graduates of higher educational institutions" and state requirements for the minimum content and level of training of graduates in the specialty 022800 "Oriental Studies, African Studies".
Exam tickets for the course "History of Asian and African Countries" contained questions on the periods of antiquity, the Middle Ages, modern and modern times. The results of the exams for this course revealed a solid knowledge of factual historical material, chronology and the ability of students to navigate the current political situation in the countries of the East. Students A. Bayazitova, Yu. Gavrilova, and L. Gulova showed the highest quality of knowledge.
When defending the "Final Qualification Works (WRC)", the State Attestation Commission worked in the same composition.
The final qualification work was completed by all graduates. Scientific supervisors were: Professor R. M. Valeev, Associate Professor R. Ya. Akhmadeev, senior lecturer K. G. Akhsanov, senior lecturer R. R. Mukhametzyanov, assistant M. V. Griger.

The applicants did a truly painstaking job, discovered many new historical facts, clearly and clearly expressed their thoughts in writing, formulated goals and objectives, and drew reasonable conclusions from their research. The presented theses are undoubtedly relevant, as they provided an opportunity to re-evaluate not only the reasons for the rise and fall of the once powerful Ottoman Empire, but also to draw from what was happening socio-economic and political lessons that deserve attention today as a scientific study.-

educational institutions, as well as practical organizations. The scientific novelty of these works consists in a concrete analysis of specific problems, where objectivism prevails over subjectivism, peacefulness over antagonism, and where the radicalism of the West is reasonably opposed to the peacefulness of the East, and reformism is presented as a natural stage of development not only of Turkey, but also of its Middle Eastern neighbors.
During the defense of their works, students demonstrated excellent knowledge of factual material, analytical abilities and public speaking skills. The State Attestation Commission gave an excellent assessment of all the works. Let us highlight the research of R. Bayazitova, who touched upon such a little-studied topic as the foreign policy of the Ottoman Empire in the north-eastern direction in the XV-XVI centuries, attracted sources and literature in Russian, Turkish, Tatar and French. O. Bagautdinov, having considered in detail the dynamics of the development of the Kurdish problem, especially at the end of the XX century, came to the conclusion that the future of Kurdistan as a single state, which the Kurds dream of, is hindered in every possible way not only by the West and those Middle Eastern states where the Kurds live compactly (Turkey, Iraq, Syria, for example), but also by the strife in the Kurdish movement itself, which is not unified and has different dialects. the US-Iraq conflict (2003 - 2007), if the US tries to seize the oil resources of Kirkuk by force, which Ankara also claims to own. Khurab, highlighting the political aspect of Turkish-Arab relations after World War II, drew particular attention to both Western interference in these relations and unresolved border disputes, in particular Turkey and Syria, as well as the imbalance of mutually exclusive alternatives: Turkey-Israel, Turkey-Arabs.
Reviewers K. G. Akhsanov, R. R. Mukhametzyanov, M. V. Griger, D. E. Martynov, R. N. Mustafayev, and E. G. Temnikov provided a thorough and qualified analysis of the final qualification papers.
The following graduates graduated from the Institute of Oriental Studies of KSU with honors: O. R. Bagautdinov, R. F. Bayazitova, Yu. V. Gavrilova, L. M. Galyavieva, A. I. Gordeeva, L. M. Gulova, A.D. Zufarov, Z. F. Salakhutdinova, I. S. Khurab.
In general, all the submitted theses for 2007 in the specialty 022800 "Oriental Studies, African Studies" met the requirements of the "Regulations on State Certification of graduates of Higher Educational Institutions", were performed very efficiently and rightfully received a high expert assessment of the State Attestation Commission. Diploma works of the first issue deserve to be published as a separate manual for use in academic work in the above-mentioned and other specialties.
