On June 23-25, 2008, the first International Scientific Conference "Archival Oriental Studies" was held in Moscow, organized by the Archival Publications Section of the Department of Oriental History of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences, the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and the Society of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences. R. B. Rybakov, Director of the Institute of Information Technology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, and akad addressed the audience with greetings. RAS B. S. Myasnikov. The opening of the conference was marked by an exhibition of documents on the history of Oriental studies from the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

At the plenary session, the head of the Department made a report. V. I. Sheremet, Director of archival publications, spoke about the features and tasks of archival research of orientalists. He defined the concept of "archival Oriental studies" as an integral part of orientalism, which relies mainly on documents of the national archives as the main source in historical research of all types. He also identified archival Oriental studies as a scientific sub-discipline that has existed in Russia for 180 years, and noted the stimulating factors of its development. Significant was the speaker's observation that archival Oriental studies leave no room for the managed past and its mythologization, being an important component of one of the most dynamic sciences of the modern world - orientalism. The huge resource prospects of the national archival funds were noted, many of which have not yet been touched by the researcher.

Director of the ISAA at Moscow State University M. S. Meyer devoted his report to the role of archival materials in the system of Oriental studies education. Training of an orientalist, he noted, includes mandatory knowledge not only of the Eastern language, but also of the country being studied, its people, i.e. it includes a complex of humanitarian disciplines in the educational process - history, ethnography, geography, economics, where it is difficult to overestimate the importance of archival materials that most fully and reliably reflect events. Therefore, it is very important to teach students the skills of working with archival materials while studying at an Oriental university.

Further, the conference was held in two sections.

At section A, a report by a corresponding member was heard. Russian Academy of Sciences V. M. Alpatov "Fedor Dmitrievich Ashnin-Orientalist-archivist", dedicated, according to the speaker, to a scientist of unusual fate, not only a linguist-Turkologist, but also an archivist who studied the "white spots" of the history of Russian science. His life and work were examined, from his participation in the Great Patriotic War to his achievements in the field of studying the history of Russian science related to the study of archival documents. F. D. Ashnin, after the posthumous rehabilitation of prominent Russian Turkologists A. N. Samoilovich and B. V. Chobanzade, began studying their heritage. Based on archival research, he restored the history of N. I. Ilminsky's creation of an important grammar of the Altai language for Turkology. Thanks to the initiative of F. D. Ashnin, the book "Repressed Turkology" was published, which describes the activities and clarified the circumstances of the deaths of prominent Azerbaijani, Kazakh and Kyrgyz scientists, writers and public figures-B. V. Choban-zade, G. S. Gubaidullin, A. Baitursunov, R. A. Akhundov, etc. I created my own archive. His merit lies in the introduction of a new documentary material, important for the history of Oriental studies, into scientific circulation.

T. V. Kotyukova (All-Russian Institute for the Study of Archival Documentation and Records Management) presented the report "Naftulla Aronovich Khalfin: archivist and Orientalist". N. A. Khalfin became famous for many works on the history of the policy of Russia and Great Britain in Central Asia in the XIX century. However, his scientific activity as a historian-archivist and one of the leaders of archival affairs in the Uzbek SSR is insufficiently studied, which the speaker drew attention to. The report traced the milestones of this scientist's life. Among his achievements in the field of archival studies, the speaker refers to the creation of a guide to the Central State Archive of Uzbekistan in 1948 and the use in his works of a large number of documents from the collections of the Central State Historical Archive of Uzbekistan.

N. M. Gorbunova (IB RAS) made a presentation "Russian diplomat and researcher of the Middle East and the Balkans K. D. Petkovich. Based on archival materials of the second half of the XIX century". She spoke about the activities of a well - known Russian diplomat (1827-1897), a native of Bulgaria, who left a significant mark in the history of Russian Oriental studies both with his books and numerous volumes of informative consular reports, now located in the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire (AVPRI). The study of the epistolary heritage and reports of K. D. Petkovich based on the materials of AVPRI allows us to explore a number of interesting topics for science on the history of Lebanon, the Ottoman Empire, the Arab and Armenian national movements, and inter-communal relations in the Arab vilayets of the Ottoman State.

The topic of the report by P. M. Valeev (Institute of Oriental Studies of Kazan State University-KSU) is "Russian archival funds and the history of Kazan Oriental Studies in the XIX-early XX centuries". The speaker emphasized the materials of the National Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan, the Department of Manuscripts and rare books of the Lobachevsky Scientific Library of KSU and a number of major publications. archives of Russia in St. Petersburg and Moscow. He drew attention to the need to compare the materials of the funds of the capital's Russian archives with documents on the history of Oriental studies from the archive collections in Kazan, as well as the classification of archival materials.

The report of M. Y. Kiselev (Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences) "Documentary heritage in Oriental Studies in the Archive of the Russian Academy of Sciences: features of systematization in inventories" touched upon the actual problem of the archive's activity - the creation of a system of scientific reference equipment that allows for the prompt search for retrospective information. He noted the peculiarities of systematization in the inventories, documentary materials on Oriental studies, which were in the personal funds of scientists. The archive has developed an information system, which includes the RAS database, and the speaker also reported on the principles of its operation.

M. E. Malevinskaya (Russian State Archive of the Navy-RGA of the Navy, St. Petersburg) paid attention to the Oriental materials in the collections of this archive. The funds of the Main Naval and Naval General Staffs are particularly informative, primarily the combat reports of ship commanders and reports of Russian naval agents, as well as the personal funds of Russian admirals and their families.

Dmitry Arapov (MSU) described the main types of archival documents on the activities of the Council for Religious Affairs under the Government of the USSR in 1944-1990, which contain the most important information on the history of "Soviet Islam".-

In conclusion, possible directions of using the documents of the Central Archive of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation in research on Afghanistan are determined.

A.D. Vasiliev's report "Archives of the Republic of Turkey: history of development and current state" aroused particular interest due to the fact that for the first time a Russian researcher managed to work with the Ottoman archives, the importance of which is important for the history of not only Turkey, but also Russia. The speaker described in detail the stages of development of archival affairs in Turkey from the Ottoman period to the present day, drew attention to the classification and description of documents in the archives of Turkey (the approximate number of storage units is 150 million), as well as constant monitoring of their safety. The speaker noted that most of the collections of Turkish archives are publicly available, including for Russian scientists, in accordance with the agreement signed between Russia and Turkey.

The report of G. V. Dluzhnevskaya (Institute of the History of Material Culture of the Russian Academy of Sciences, St. Petersburg) was devoted to materials on the history and culture of the peoples of Asian Russia in the photo archive of the Institute of International Relations of the Russian Academy of Sciences, dating from 1870-2006. The presentation gave a detailed description of these documents and noted that in recent years some photo documents have been published.

Yakushev (Center of National Glory of Russia, Moscow) in his report "Documents of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on the Orthodox Churches of Antioch and Jerusalem in the XIX century" highlighted the archival sources - " Embassy in Constantinople "(1800-1853) and (1856 - 1914), the inventory of which contains materials received from Istanbul from 1800 to 1914: dispatches, dispatches, receipts, financial reports, etc. Documents show how much priority and sensitive the affairs of the church were for the Russian government when developing its foreign policy in the East.

N. N. Lisovoi's report (Institute of Russian History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) "Palestinian Society and Problems of Russian Oriental Studies" testified to the role played by the Palestinian Imperial Orthodox Society in the study of the history of the Middle East countries, especially those located near the "Promised Land", or holy places for the whole Christian world. related to biblical subjects - Jerusalem with the "Holy Sepulchre", Nazareth and other holy sites, as well as the current state of the revived "Palestinian society", which resumed its research after a long break.

I. Y. Smirnova (Palestine Society) in her report "The A. N. Muravyov Foundation in the Manuscripts Department of the Russian State Library and its unused Oriental resource" introduced the audience to the biography of the writer and statesman A. N. Muravyov, also known as the initiator of close church-diplomatic relations between Russia and the Middle East, Charge d'affaires of Jerusalem, Antioch and Jerusalem. Alexander Orthodox Patriarchs representing their interests in the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Empire. A. N. Muravyov's personal archive contains important but hitherto unknown materials on many aspects of Russia's policy in the Middle East and inter-church relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and Eastern Orthodox Parti-archates. These documents are very relevant for studying the history of Russia's ecclesiastical and political presence in the Middle East region and Russia's cultural ties with the peoples of the Middle East.

I. A. Mustakimov (Main Archive Department under the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Tatarstan) prepared materials on publications of documents from Turkish ancient repositories related to the history of the peoples of the Volga-Ural region. The archives of Turkey contain many documents on the history of contacts between the peoples of the Volga and Ural regions. Documents from the archive and library of the Topkapi Palace Museum and the Ottoman Archive attached to the Cabinet of the Prime Minister of Turkey are particularly important. Published documents were named-

T. I. Zyapparov (Institute of Oriental Studies of KSU) "Kazan Arabic studies in the archival funds of St. Petersburg and Kazan" described the archival funds of two cities on the history of Arabic studies in Kazan. After the transfer of the Eastern category of Kazan University in 1854-1855 to the Eastern Faculty of St. Petersburg University, many documents on the history of Kazan University Oriental Studies remained in Kazan, although some of them were transferred to St. Petersburg. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct targeted archival research on the history of Russian orientalism in the XIX-XX centuries in the archives of both St. Petersburg and Kazan.

A. Kalimullina (National Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan) in her report "Muslim metric books in the collections of the National Archive of the Republic of Tatarstan" reported on the study of Muslim metric books, justifying the need for their research and classification.

Report by D. V. Senya (Krasnodar State University) historical and Archaeological Museum-Reserve named after E. D. Filitsyn)" The latest finds on the history of Russia and Europe in the archives of the Republic of Turkey " emphasizes the importance of information capabilities of archival repositories in Turkey for the development of domestic historical research. This applies to the history of the Russo-Turkish wars, the history of Poland, Ukraine, the Crimean Khanate, and the Cossacks. The speaker shared his impressions of working in the archives of Turkey, where he identified 500 documents of the XVI-XIX centuries, which he is currently working on.

An important political event in the history of the Ottoman Empire, which until recently was not properly reflected in the historical literature, was devoted to the report of I. M. Smilyanskaya (Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) " Young Turk coup of 1908 in Aleppo (based on reports of Russian Consuls General)", based on the consideration of reports of Russian consuls General from Aleppo, refuting the existence of a revolutionary situation in the Asian possessions of the Ottoman Empire.

I. Minyazhetdinov (Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) in his report "Russian archival sources on the history of Soviet-Iraqi relations in 1920-1958", based on the materials of Russian archives, described the relationship between the USSR and Iraq during this period. The scientific value and uniqueness of the discovered archival sources lies in the opportunity to discover and explore hitherto unknown pages in the decades-long history of relations between the USSR and Iraq, as well as to re-evaluate important moments in the recent history of the Iraqi state.

A. A. Kocheshkov's report "The factor of North Iranian oil in the policy of European powers, the USA, the USSR and Iran in the 20-40s of XX century" made an attempt to determine the time of the emergence of the Middle Eastern oil policy of the USA, whose TNCs took active actions in Iran in order to control its oil resources. For the USSR, the oil factor in Iran was of political rather than economic importance, where the security principles of the Soviet southern borders prevailed. In this respect, the USSR and Iran achieved their goals, while the West was never allowed to enter the North Iranian oil fields.

The report by V. V. Bazarova (PhD student of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences) "Japan's penetration into East Asia in the 20 - 30s of the XX century in the materials of Russian archives" contains information concerning this period, when militaristic Japan intensified its aggressive policy in East Asia. The speaker considers this topic important, since Japan still shows great interest in this region, although it is already economic, while the attention of scientists to this problem was insufficient.

Z. V. Anaiban (Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) in her report "Archival materials as a source for studying the role of women in traditional nomadic society among the peoples of Central Asia" reported on the central and regional archives where the manuscripts of A.V. Adrianov, F. Ya. Kon, and E. K. Yakovlev - researchers who visited Tuva for various purposes in the XIX - early XX centuries-are kept. XX century, - on the role of women among nomadic peoples. Although the materials on this topic are fragmentary, they nevertheless allowed the speaker to draw a conclusion about the relative freedom of women in traditional Tuvan society, in particular in the family sphere.

The report of J. R. R. Tolkien Khakova (Institute of Balkan Studies of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Sofia) was dedicated to the archival materials he found and published about the activities of the Turkish military attache Major

Mustafa Kemal in Sofia during the period from 20.11.1912 to 25.11.1913. The tasks assigned to him by the Ottoman General Staff were to promote Bulgaria's accession to the Triple Alliance in the impending World War and to participate in the preparation of plans for joint actions of Turkish and Bulgarian troops on the Balkan front. Mustafa Kemal justified the trust placed in him by the Turkish leadership, for which he was promoted to the rank, and also awarded the Order of St. Alexander of the 3rd degree by the Bulgarian side.

T. Tekten (Turkey, Ankara) made a presentation on "Archival documents on the history of the Turkish Linguistic Society", which was founded in 1932 by the first President of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Ataturk. The report shows the educational goals of creating a society: raising the international status of the Turkish language, identifying its rich heritage and switching to the Latin alphabet. The speaker gradually reviewed the reforms that have taken place in the Turkish language over the 76 years of the society's existence, as well as its current activities related to the publication of scientific literature and dictionaries, holding conferences and seminars aimed at improving the Turkish language. The report pays special attention to the role of Ataturk, who led the Linguistic Society in its first stage of existence, and his struggle for the liberation of the Turkish language from the influence of Arabic and Old Ottoman languages. His letters and telegrams addressed to the society, which played an important role in the formation of this scientific organization, are given.

S. Pilichkova (Marko Chepenkov Institute of Folklore Studies, Skopje, Macedonia) presented the report " Archival source studies as a fundamental branch of Russian Oriental studies. Turkish Folklore and Ethnology", which examines the dialects of the Turkish language of the Macedonian Turks on the basis of materials stored in the archive of the Institute of Folklore Studies. It was noted that the Turkish Folklore Research Sector has published 16 monographs and more than 200 scientific articles on this issue since 1977. Materials of the Institute's archive include folk songs, musical compositions, proverbs, information about folk medicine, beliefs and magical practices, and folk traditions.

Section B included a report by D. D. Vasiliev (Institute of Archives of the Russian Academy of Sciences) "The significance of archival research for Ancient Turkic source studies", which was devoted to modern problems of source and textual research of monuments of ancient Turkic runic writing. This is due to the fact that the well-known collection of texts of monuments of ancient Turkic writing has not been fully introduced into scientific circulation and there is no possibility of considering all monuments as an interconnected collection of autochthonous written sources. Many museum archives contain information related to the circumstances of the discovery of Turkic runic inscriptions, and many of them remain unpublished. A typical example is the copies of fragments of Orkhon monuments in the Irkutsk Museum of Local Lore, made by N. M. Yadrintsev even before their decoding. According to the speaker, the urgent modern task of Turkic runology is to identify all archival materials of this kind, which is important not only for making adjustments to the reading of individual inscriptions, but also for preparing the corpus of all currently known samples of Turkic runic epigraphy. This is already being implemented within the framework of an international project, which provides for a special stage of archival research.
The report of A. A. Arslanova (Center for Iranian Studies of the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan) was devoted to Persian-language Fiqh manuscripts in the collection of the Lobachevsky Scientific Library of the KSU. This is the oldest and largest of the five famous Arabic collections in Kazan. One of the first places in the collection, both in terms of the number of monuments, as well as their scientific and cultural significance, belongs to the collection of handwritten books in the Farsi language, numbering 732 storage units. The speaker noted the thematic diversity of KSU's Persian-language manuscripts, among which she identified 42 lists of Persian-language Fiqh works.

M. Dobrovich (Center for Central Asian Studies of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest) He reported on the study of the textual structure and political nature of narratives of ancient Turkic runic inscriptions. Based on the textual analysis of ancient Turkic monuments, he justified the expediency of their comparative study. The report of R. B. Butova (Palestine Society) was devoted to the epistolary heritage of Archimandrite Antonin (Kapustin) as a source on the history of Jerusalem and Palestine. The Archimandrite was an eyewitness to many events that took place in the "Holy Places". His notes on interdenominational relations, both between different Christian denominations and with representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church.-

page 162
The traditions of other world religions-Islam and Judaism-have not lost their relevance to this day. N. K. Charyeva (IV RAS) presented a retrospective of the scientific journal of the IV RAS "Eastern Archive", starting from its creation in 1999, and further plans of the editorial board. Z. Minullin (N. I. Lobachevsky Scientific Library of KSU) made a report on archaeological field research on the collection of scientific manuscripts in 2000-2007 in 166 Tatar villages in different regions of the Russian Federation. More than 1,338 manuscripts and 704 Arabic-language books written in Tatar, Arabic, Farsi and Turkish were identified and collected.

The topic of V. V. Belyakov's speech ( IB RAS) is an interview as a historical source. The vulnerability of an interview as a source, in his opinion, lies in the fact that it cannot serve as the main, and even more so the only, source of research. However, by comparing several interviews on the same topic, you can get a fairly objective picture of the event, even if there are no written sources.

The report of A. A. Stolyarov (Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences) "Experience in creating electronic archives in Oriental studies" concerned theoretical developments in the field of creating electronic archives in Oriental studies, which domestic scientists have been conducting for 20 years. These developments are reflected in a series of publications "Electronic libraries and databases on the history of Eurasia in the Middle Ages", collections "Epigraphy of the East", "Theory and methods of Eastern epigraphy". Some of the developments are reflected on the EAOS server. Among the created electronic archives, we can mention the developments of D. D. Vasiliev, D. N. Lelyukhin, and A. A. Stolyarov.

T. Tsarevskaya's report "Materials of 20 foundations on the history of China" is devoted to Soviet-Chinese relations, inter-party relations between the Communist Parties of the USSR and China, relations between the CPSU (b) and the Kuomintang, the activities of the Comintern in China, and relations between Soviet and Chinese leaders and their representatives in the first half of the 20th century.

O. V. Sokolovskaya (Institute of Slavic Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences) spoke about unknown archival documents (naval reports) concerning the Greco-Turkish War of 1897. The complex vicissitudes of this war, during which both belligerents were subjected to pressure from the great powers, which eventually saved Greece from complete defeat by Turkish troops, were reflected in the materials stored in the archive. now in the RGA of the Navy.

T. A. Anikeeva (Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) devoted her report to an unpublished manuscript of the Turkish "Tale of Kadiya and the Thief" , one of the handwritten versions of Turkish folk tales that were widespread in Turkey and Transcaucasia until the end of the 19th century. The story belongs to the fairy-tale cycle "One Thousand and One Nights", widely known in the Muslim East, two lists of which are located in the Berlin State Library and the library of the University of Bratislava.

The report of O. M. Kournikova (IB RAS) " The first scientific descriptions of the Crimean Peninsula by Russian navigators of the XVIII century: ship log of Captain of the 2nd rank I. M. Bersenev (materials of the Russian State Academy of the Navy)" contains information about a military scientific expedition sent to study the western and southern coast of the Black Sea (measuring the depths of the sea and rivers, maps), which was reflected in his diary, now stored in the RGA of the Navy and discovered by the speaker. Bersenev's works became the first scientific description of the Black Sea coast in Russian history and geography.

N. F. Leshchenko (Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) commented on historical documents about the embassy of E. V. Putyatin to Japan based on the materials of the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire, which cover the pages of Russian-Japanese relations in the XIX century.

T. N. Zagorodnikova (IB RAS), in her report on the "Indian campaign" of the Russian army, analyzed Russian-British relations related to their rivalry in Central Asia, when Russian troops could potentially reach the "pearl" of the British crown from these borders, which kept Great Britain in suspense throughout the XIX century.

The report of N. A. Zherlitsyna (Institute of Africa of the Russian Academy of Sciences) "Documentary sources of the Archive of Foreign Policy of the Russian Empire on the establishment of the French protectorate in Tunis in 1881" was based on the data of AVPRI, which contains more than 300 documents on the history of Russian-Tunisian relations, and is devoted to the transformation of Tunisia into a French colony. This process is reflected in detail in the reports of Russian diplomats from Tunisia, which were carefully examined by the speaker.

A. S. Kadyrbaev's review report "On the importance of Russian archives for the study of Central Asia" dealt with the role of Russian archives-RGADA, RGVIA, AVPRI, RGA of the Navy in the study of the history and culture of the peoples of Central Asia since the XVI century.-

page 163
It is clear that the materials of Russian archives, which contain rich information about Central Asia, are of lasting value. He noted that there are enough materials on this topic for generations of researchers.

The report of H.-M. Donogo (Institute of History of the Dagestan Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Makhachkala) "Archival investigation of Imam Shamil's relations with the Ottoman Empire" examines archival materials that testify to Imam Shamil's correspondence with the Ottoman Sultan Abdul-Majid, with leaders of the Muslim clergy of the Ottoman Empire, the sheriff of Mecca, the ruler of the Hejaz and other influential people. leaders of the Islamic world. In his letters, the leader of Dagestan and Chechnya asks for help in the fight against the Russian Empire, reminding, in particular, the Sultan of his duties as a "guardian of the faith".

N. G. Romanova (Institute of History of the Russian Academy of Sciences) in her report "The Italo-Turkish-Libyan crisis of 1911-1912 based on archival materials" analyzed the events that led in 1911 to a military conflict between Italy and the Ottoman Empire over the right to own Libya, then a remote Ottoman province. These circumstances are still insufficiently studied for a number of reasons, although the Italo-Turkish war of 1911-1912 had a serious impact on the situation in the Mediterranean and North Africa, as well as on the alignment of political forces on the world stage. Based on recently discovered archival documents, the Italo-Turkish war is assessed as one of the links in the chain of events that led to the outbreak of the First World War.

The report of T. I. Lagvilava (Sholokhov Moscow State University) "Archival documents on the political and state structure of Georgia in 1917-1918" is devoted to the problem of political power, institutionalization of parties and movements in Georgia in 1917-1918 on the basis of materials presented in the collections of the Central State Historical Archive of Georgia. The speaker compared and analyzed Georgian and Russian archival materials, which made it possible to fully assess the search for ways of Georgia's development during the period under study.

Yu. N. Tikhonov (Lipetsk State Pedagogical University). un-t) examined the documents of the fund of the Turkestan Bureau of the Comintern, dividing them into several blocks: Indo-Afghan, Bukhara, Khorezm, Chinese, and Iranian, and evaluated the safety of documents. According to the archives, the Turkestan Bureau of the Comintern included Central Asia, Iran, Afghanistan, India, and China, and the bureau had a noticeable impact on the international situation in the Middle East at the first stage of its work.

O. P. Shkedya (Simferopol, Ukraine) devoted his report to archival documents of Crimea about Turkish prisoners of war in Russia during the Crimean War. The speaker revealed information concerning the conditions of keeping Turkish soldiers in Russian captivity (they were quite humane, so that some even expressed a desire to stay in Russia and accept Russian citizenship). The speaker noted that the fate of most Russian soldiers who were captured by the Allies was much more severe. In conclusion, it was concluded that the data of the Crimean archives require additional textual analysis.

To. Massimov (Almaty, Kazakhstan) in his report "The Uyghur Khaganate in archival materials of Russia, China and Mongolia" focused on the activities of the Uyghur Khaganate established in Russia at the beginning of the XX century. The Russian Committee for the Study of Central and Eastern Asia, which was founded by scientists V. V. Radlov, S. F. Oldenburg, S. E. Malov, V. V. Barthold, and V. P. Vasiliev, who studied handwritten documents, books, and cultural monuments, including Uyghur ones. Based on historical and archaeological research of Russian scientists, information from Chinese dynastic chronicles and other data, the speaker offered his own interpretation of the medieval monument of the Uyghur fortress Por-Bazhyn in Tuva discovered by Russian archaeologists.

About one hundred scientists from Russia, CIS countries and other countries took part in the conference with presentations and discussions. The first international scientific conference "Archival Oriental Studies" covered a wide range of archival research in the field of Oriental studies. The participants demonstrated a high level of scientific research based on archival sources. The publication of the Department of Oriental History of the Institute of Oriental Studies of the Russian Academy of Sciences "Eastern Archive" received a high positive assessment during the discussions, and constructive suggestions were made to expand the journal's subject matter. Suggestions were also expressed for organizational and scientific cooperation of archivists-orientalists. The participants noted the clear work of the organizing committee in preparing and holding the conference.

By the beginning of the conference, the participants ' abstracts were published. The conference "Archival Oriental Studies" is supposed to be held regularly.
